United Way works to advance the common good and create opportunities for a better life for all.  we focus on the basics we all need to succeed education, income, health.  Our goal is to create long-lasting change that prevents problems from happening in the first place.

  • United Way of Benton County founded in 1954
  • United Way of Lincoln County incorporated in 1955
  • Both United Ways merged in 2005 to become United Way of Benton & Lincoln Counties, serving the two-county region with offices in Corvallis, OR and Newport, OR.
  • Reach nearly 100 companies, and approximately 1,300 employees
  • Have approximately 1,500 donors and 575 volunteers
  • In 2008, UWBLC funded 30 agencies 39 programs
  • Help over 10,000 people in the two-county region

About United Way
                                Our story.

United Way HistoryThe Benton County United Fund (BCUF) was incorporated in December 1954 under the leadership of Board President, James Metzger. That year, the Board with 21 members and no paid staff, raised $55,761 to fund 10 agencies. The United Good Neighbors of Lincoln County (UGNLC) incorporated in 1955, and included seven members and no paid staff. In 1970, the BCUF became United Way of Benton County, hiring a part-time executive Director, and part-time clerical staff, while the United Way of Lincoln County also continued to operate with only part-time staff. In 2005, United Way of Benton County and United Way of Lincoln County combined operation to become United Way of Benton & Lincoln Counties. With 2.5 staff, the organizations currently services over 128,000 people, with assistance to over 45 organizations.
